Scott and Carver Counties

Location: Minnesota
Background:

Develop pathways for families to be connected to sustainable housing solutions when they are at-risk of or currently experiencing homelessness and child welfare involvement.

In late 2020, due to delayed capital funding and decreased staff capacity, the KFT Partnership pushed pause on a new family supportive housing development. The group then pivoted to focus on supporting families with child welfare involvement and who are at risk of homelessness by engaging child welfare and prevention social workers and providing flexible financial assistance to families.

Impact:
  • Ongoing housing consultation between county housing units and child welfare teams
  • Utilize existing collaborative meetings to enhance and continue
  • Create access points for families with child welfare involvement and housing instability within existing and newly expanded state funded programs
  • With capital funding secured, continue progress on developing new KFT supportive housing units
